If the Bemidji State men’s ice hockey team can’t replicate its magical postseason run of 2009, the Beavers will be represented during the 2010 Frozen Four weekend. The NCAA today announced that BSU senior forward Chris McKelvie (New Brighton, Minn.) has been selected as one of 32 male and female student-athletes to participate in the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge held in Detroit, Mich. Dan Bakala (So., G, Calgary, Alberta), Brad Hunt (So., D, Ridge Meadows, British Columbia), Ian Lowe (Jr., F, Bradwardine, Manitoba) and Matt Read (Jr., F, Ilderton, Ontario) of the Bemidji State men’s ice hockey team were announced as members of the 2010 College Hockey America All-League Teams today. League coaches voted Bakala, Hunt and Read to the first team while Lowe was selected Second-Team All-CHA. Full Story »

Senior Zac Preble (Coleraine, Minn.) was recognized by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) last week, naming him the 2010 Central Regional Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, joining 33 student-athletes from across the country on the list of awards voted on by NCAA Division II coaches.
