Debbie also participated in a summer softball team. When she first came to Cambridge, Debbie began building a community education gymnastics program as well as being the head gymnastics coach. While her children were young, Debbie acted as the assistant coach for five years and again became head coach once her kids started school. Five years ago, Debbie again became the assistant coach while training in one of her former gymnasts to eventually head the high school program. This year Debbie formally retired her high school coaching position but continues to coach athletes off-season. In other coaching pursuits, Debbie began a community gymnastics club six years ago that is a USA Junior Olympic program for children seven years and older. She fills her days with teaching full time and coaching three to six hours a day. During her gymnastics career, Debbie has earned the distinction of being the 7AA section coach of the year several times. Debbie's most recent honor was being named to the high school gymnastics Hall of Fame. During the summers, Debbie also coaches gymnastics and for about fifteen years has been a master coach at an international gymnastics camp called Lake Owen, located in Cable, WI. Her daughters, Bree and Brittany, have both trained in gymnastics under her and her youngest has competed in club and excelled through level ten, earning a walk on spot at a Division I college.
