Gary Ross graduated from Bemidji State University in 1978 and has had a very accomplished career as a hockey player, teacher, and coach. In 1976, Gary played with the USA Olympic Team at Innsbruck, Austria, where his team finished fourth. Also in 1976, Gary played for the USA National Team in Katowice, Poland, where his team also finished fourth. In 1979, Gary played professional hockey with the Austrian Champions in Klagenfurt and also attended the 1979 Sports Festival for ice hockey in Colorado Springs. He was named one of the top twenty-five players for the 1980 USA Olympic Team as well. Since 1980, Gary has taught fourth grade at Roseau Elementary and has coached hockey in the high school from 1980-1987. During that time, the high school team competed in the state tournament three times. Also, for the past nineteen years, Gary has coached girls' golf and has led the team to nineteen subsection championships and ten section championships. He was named Section Coach of the Year eight times and State Co-Coach in 1985 and 2000. Gary and his wife, Kathy, have two sons, Kyle and Luke.
