A 1978 Graduate of BSU, Laurie Bottem Kelly was a member of the BSU Women's Field Hockey Team from 1975 to 1978. She was voted All-Conference in the Minn-Kota Conference and led the team to the Nationals all three years she played. Laurie is the nation's leading all time scorer with 93 regular season goals her senior year, which beat her previous record of 72 regular season goals set in her junior year. Laurie has been a high school teacher for the past 20 years at Lincoln High School in Roundup, MT. She teaches physical education, health, biology and life science. Laurie was a Special Olympics Coach from 1994 through 1999. She was recognized as the Montana Volleyball Coach of the Year in 1998 and was Runner-up for Coach of the Year in 1997 and 1999. Laurie received the prestigious Milken Educator of the Year Award for the 1997-98 school year.
