Member BSU Men's Swim Team; 1973-1977; Team Captain 1976; Six Time Varsity Record Holder: 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Butterfly, 400 Medley Relay, 400 Free Relay and 800 Free Relay; All-NIC 1975, '76, '77; NIC Conference Champion 100 Freestyle, 1977; Nine Time - 3 Year All-American; First Team NAIA 100 Butterfly (6th), 1976, and 400 Free Relay (6th), 1977; Bangsberg Award Winner, 1977; Phy. Ed. and Health Instructor at Winona High School 1977-1989; served as Winona's Head Boy's Swimming Coach winning six consecutive BIC 9 Conference Championships from 1982-'87; 110-25 Dual Meet Coaching Record; from 1987-'88 was a graduate assistant, men's swimming coach at the University of Texas at Austin where the team won the NCAA Division I National Championship; from 1987 to present has served as the Head Men's Swimming Coach at Iowa State University (ISU); 1995 Big 8 Conference Champions; coached eight NCAA Division I All-Americans; 1995 Big 8 Swimming Coach of the Year; Continues to swim and has won 20 United States Masters National Titles; has established four Masters World Records and has three Masters World Championship Meet Titles; established the ISU SwimAmerica Learn-to-Swim Program.
