Charlie Knott graduated from BSU in 1974 with a degree in physical education and health.  While at BSU, Charlie was a standout athlete in football and wrestling.  As a four year football letter winner, Charlie served as the team captain in 1972, was selected all NIC conference team in 1971 and 1972 and was selected all District NAIA team in 1972.  As a three year wrestling letter winner, Charlie was a three time BSU Open champion, and was a runner up in the conference championship tournament and national tournament qualifier in 1971.  Charlie signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in 1973 and the Minnesota Vikings in 1974.  Following a short career in professional football, Charlie turned to teaching and coaching football and wrestling at the high school level, coaching football from 1976 to 1980 at Motley High School.  In those four years his team was conference champions twice and runners up twice.  For this success, Charlie was selected Heartland 6 Conference Coach of the Year in both 1977 and 1980.  Charlie also coached wrestling at Motley HS from 1975 through 1981.  From there he coached both sports for two years at Howard Lake High School.  Charlie eventually moved into the world of business and in 1986 he received the United States Rookie of the Year Award from ITT Life Insurance.  In 1987 he became the Director of Marketing for Knott Enterprises, a position he continues to hold today.  Charlie and his wife, Paula, have three children and four grand children.  They make their home in Howard Lake, Minn.
