Bemidji State lands 26 on Spring Academic All-NSIC Team

Bemidji State University landed 26 student-athletes on the 2014 Spring Academic All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Team, announced by the league office May 14.


VanHaaften and Kalis named Bemidji State's Student-Athletes of the Year

Bemidji State University midfielder Tiffany VanHaaften (Sr., Chaska, Minn.) and first baseman/pitcher Logan Kalis (Sr., Little Falls, Minn.) were named 2013-14 Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year as a part of the Beaver Nation Celebration athletic appreciation banquet Thursday at the BSU Gymnasium.


Lind named NSIC Commissioner

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Board of Directors has announced Erin Lind as its next commissioner. Lind will be the NSIC's fifth full-time commissioner and will begin her duties July 1. She replaces Butch Raymond who will retire June 30 after ten years at the helm of the league. Lind joined the NSIC staff in 2001 and has served as the NSIC Associate Commissioner and Senior Woman Administrator since 2005.


Longtime Bemidji State Athletic Director/Coach Vic Weber dies, 91

A pillar of the Bemidji State University community is gone today as longtime athletic director, head coach and instructor Dr. Victor Weber passed away Sunday (April 27) at his home. He was 91.


Beaver Pride names MacArthur and Benson Athletes of the Week

Bemidji State University’s Cassie MacArthur (IF, Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) and Andrew Benson (Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) have been named Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, after outstanding athletic performances during the week of April 14-20.


Bill Robertson named Commissioner of the WCHA

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association today announced that Bill Robertson has been selected as the new commissioner of college hockey’s most historic, tradition-rich and successful conference. He accepted a multi-year agreement with the WCHA.


Sertich to retire after eight years at helm of Bemidji State women’s hockey

After eight seasons at the helm of the Bemidji State University women’s ice hockey program, head coach Steve Sertich is calling it quits. Sertich, who has led the Beavers to 81 wins, eight postseason appearances and the program’s first stint in the national polls, announced his intention to retire from coaching at a press conference March 17.

Hardwater Classic lands $6,000 for BSU athletic scholarships

In excess of 200 anglers took to a frozen Lake Bemidji Feb. 15 to compete for over $20,000 in prizes in the 2014 Knife River Materials Hardwater Classic ice fishing tournament. The event raised over $6,000 for the Bemidji State University Athletic Scholarship Fund.

NSIC Commissioner Butch Raymond announces retirement

Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Commissioner Lloyd "Butch" Raymond has announced his retirement effective August 1 after 50 years of service to collegiate athletics. Raymond, the fourth full-time commissioner in the history of the league, has served as Commissioner since 2004. A national search for a replacement is currently underway.


BSU trio tabbed for NSIC academic excellence

Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Commissioner Butch Raymond today announced Bemidji State University’s Miles Campbell (Baseball, Eden Prairie, Minn.), Jessica Voeller (Soccer, White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Tiffany VanHaaften (Soccer, Chaska, Minn.) have been selected as recipients of the fifth annual NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction Award.

Sixth Annual Knife River Materials Hardwater Classic set for Feb. 15

The sixth annual Knife River Materials Hardwater Classic Ice Fishing Tournament is set for Saturday, February 15 on Lake Bemidji (near the Nymore Access point). The event, which is open to the public, offers more than $20,000 in prizes.

Community Appreciation Day rescheduled for Sept. 14

Bemidji State University’s eighth annual Community Appreciation Day has been rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14. The event will be held from 3-6 p.m. on the Bemidji State University campus and lead directly into the BSU football team’s Shrine Game and 2013 home opener against Concordia University-St. Paul.

Elizabeth Mulvihill inducted into the NSIC Hall of Fame

Nearly 200 golfers gathered at the Bemidji Town and Country Club today to participate in the 2013 Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament presented by Wells Fargo. The five-person, 18-hole scramble, now in its 36th year, raised funds for the Bemidji State University men’s athletics scholarship fund.

Bemidji State men’s hockey season tickets on sale now

Beaver Athletics has unveiled a modified pricing structure for 2013-14 men’s hockey season tickets, making it more affordable than ever to be a season ticket holder. Bemidji State hosts 2013 NSIC SAAC Summit

Bemidji State University will play host to the 2013 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Leadership Summit May 31-June 2. Nearly 50 representatives from all 16 NSIC institutions will invade the BSU campus to build camaraderie between NSIC schools' leadership and train for the 2013-14 athletic year.
