Former BSU shot put standout Zwiers inducted into NSIC Hall of Fame

Five-time All-American and 1989 NAIA shot put champion Patti (Fitgerald) Zwiers was inducted into the NSIC Hall of Fame Wednesday evening as a part of the league's annual summer meetings.


Alumni and friends turn out for 38th Annual Gordy Skaar Memorial

Former Bemidji State football player Brian Leonhardt, now a tight end of the NFL's Oakland Raiders, was among the 240 participants in the 38th Annual Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament at Bemidji Town and Country Club, June 19. The event, which benefits BSU's athletic scholarship fund, raised in excess of $50,000.


Beaver Hockey ticket events set for several June dates

Bemidji State University Director of Athletics Tracy Dill today announced four finalists in BSU’s search for a new head cross country and track and field coach. The candidates include: Marlon Brink, Michael Coonen, Kevin Kean and Kirk Nauman.

Bemidji State University Director of Athletics Tracy Dill today announced five finalists in BSU’s search for a new head women’s basketball coach. The candidates include: Chelsea DeVille, John Motherwell, Shannon Nelson, Mandy Pearson and Brent Pollari. The finalists will be on campus May 26-29 as a part of the selection process.


BSU's Dr. Keith Marek honored as Noel Olson Volunteer of the Year

Dunn joins BSU Foundation staff as director of annual giving, athletics

Bemidji State University Alumnus Adrian Dunn ’09 ’11 is the new director of annual giving for athletics for the Bemidji State University Foundation. A former Beaver athlete himself, Dunn is looking forward to building financial support for Bemidji State’s athletics programs.


Prout earns Butch Raymond Scholarship

The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference has announced Bemidji State University senior Shaylin Prout as one of 16 recipients of the second annual Butch Raymond Scholarship. The $5,000 scholarship is sponsored by Sanford Health and is given to one student-athlete from each of the NSIC’s 16 member institutions.


Bemidji State has 33 named to NSIC Spring All-Academic Team

Bemidji State University landed 33 student-athletes on the 2015 Spring Academic All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Team, announced by the league office May 13.


Mowat and Prapavessis named Bemidji State's Student-Athletes of the Year

Hougen to retire from Bemidji State track and field and cross country posts

Craig Hougen, head coach of the Bemidji State University track and field and cross country teams, has announced that he will retire at the conclusion of the 2015 outdoor track and field season. In 26 years at BSU, his teams have produced five national champions, 30 All-Americans, six Academic All-America picks and nearly 400 all-conference performers.


Eleven Beavers honored as 2014-15 WCHA Scholar-Athletes

The Western Collegiate Hockey Association today announced 87 student-athletes as recipients of the league's 10th annual WCHA Scholar-Athlete Awards. Student-athletes from Bemidji State University comprised 11 of the league's 2014-15 contingent.

More than 300 anglers took part in the 2015 Hardwater Classic

In excess of 300 anglers took to a frozen Lake Bemidji Feb. 14 to compete for over $20,000 in prizes during the Seventh Annual Knife River Materials Hardwater Classic ice fishing tournament. BSU graduate Doug Desjarlait took home top honors in the event after pulling a 3.47-pound Northern Pike through the ice.

Bemidji State University’s Brittni Mowat and Clayton Elrod have been selected as Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, after outstanding athletic performances during the week of Feb. 2-Feb. 8. Mowat backstopped Bemidji State women’s hockey to a sweep over St. Cloud State University last weekend. Elrod paced the Beavers’ offense averaging 17.5 points per contest.

The Bemidji State University men's and women's hockey programs will hold a pre-priced surplus sale in the south concourse of the Sanford Center from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3. New and used equipment will be for sale at a price to move.


Student-athletes led helping hand on move-in day

Bemidji State University student-athletes were on hand Thursday evening and Friday morning to help their fellow Beavers move into campus housing. The campus move-in kicked officially kicked off the 2014-15 orientation weekend. The academic year gets underway Monday.


Bucky Beaver voted as best mascot representative of the “State of Hockey”

Bemidji State University mascot Bucky Beaver has been crowned champion of the 2014 Hockey Hotdish Tournament Big Head Bracket and will move on to represent BSU in the semifinals of the tournament. Bucky was voted as the Minnesota mascot who best represents the “State of Hockey.”

Over 220 golfers gathered at the Bemidji Town and Country Club Friday, June 20 to participate in the 2014 Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament presented by Wells Fargo. The five-person, 18-hole scramble, now in its 37th year, grossed over $50,000 for the Bemidji State University athletics scholarship fund.


NSIC announcement of 2014 Hall of Fame class includes BSU's David Lee

David Lee, a four-time all-conference performer and the Bemidji State University men's basketball program's all-time leading scorer, was today announced as a member of the 2014 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Hall of Fame class. The conference office will induct the eight-person 2014 Hall of Fame class during a ceremony July 9.


37th Annual Gordy Skaar Memorial golf tournament set for June 20

The 37th Annual Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament presented by Wells Fargo is set for Friday, June 20 at Bemidji Town and Country Club in Bemidji, Minn. and it’s not too late to participate. Registration materials for men and women are now being accepted for the event to benefit Bemidji State University Athletic Scholarship Fund.
