BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University athletic department announced the hiring of Collin Boyles as the new assistant director of athletic media relations Wednesday. Boyles will serve as the primary media relations contact for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball.
Boyles, a Leeds, N.D., native, joins the Beavers after previously serving as sports information assistant with the University of Northern Colorado for one year. There he was the main media relations contact for women’s soccer, men’s basketball, men’s and women’s golf, and softball. One of his responsibilities included bolstering the athletic department’s social media presence through the use of press releases, infographics and photography.
Prior to working with UNC, Boyles began his athletic media relations career with Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference member Minnesota State University Moorhead as its sports information coordinator. In his two years with MSUM, he assisted with the athletic department’s website management, statistics, game-day media relations operations and writing press releases.
Boyles graduated from MSUM in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism before attaining his master’s degree in sport administration from UNC in 2014.
Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooded region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji State University sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
