BEMIDJI, Minn. – The 40th Annual Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament presented by Wells Fargo is set for Friday, June 16 at Bemidji Town and Country Club in Bemidji, Minn. and it’s not too late to participate. Registration materials for men and women are now being accepted for the event to benefit Bemidji State University’s Athletic Scholarship Fund.
Fans, friends of the university, coaches and alumni will participate in a five-person scramble with a shotgun start for each of the two flights. The morning flight will tee off at 7:30 a.m. and the afternoon flight hits the course at 1:00 p.m. A brunch will be served from 10:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. to facilitate both flights.
After the completion of play, an awards ceremony and fish fry will be held in the clubhouse where the tournament’s top three teams and low gross score, contests and door prize winners, as well as, silent auction highest bidders will be announced.
On the course, golfers will have the opportunity to participate in a number of activities highlighted by a hole-in-one contest for a 2017 car provided by Dondelinger GM. Participants will also be treated to complimentary beverages and brats while enjoying the majestic wooded setting of one of Northern Minnesota’s premier golfing venues.
The cost to participate in the event is $125 per player, which includes green fees, range balls, two mulligans, brunch buffet, tee prizes for each participant, a ticket to the awards ceremony, fish fry and more.
Fish fry tickets are available for $22 per person for those not interested in the golf portion of the event.
The Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament was started in 1978 by the late Gordy Skaar to assist Bemidji State to raise funds for its men’s athletic programs. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $750,000 for BSU Athletics.
