BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Over 160 golfers participated in the 2018 Gordy Skaar Memorial Golf Tournament Friday, raising nearly $25,000 for Bemidji State University athletic scholarships.
Participants golfed one of the premier courses in the region, participated in games and contests around the course, and were treated to a brunch, door prizes and a fish fry dinner. In addition, a silent auciton loaded with golf excursions, autographed memorabilia and unique and team issues Beaver merchandise were up for bid.
While, Beaver Athletics was the real winner, the team of Jeff Peltier, Clint Cornell, Tim Dondelinger, Paul Friesen and Tom Serratore turned in the best scorecard of the day.
Now in its 41st year, the annual event has now raided more than $775,000 for Bemidji State University and Beaver athletic scholarships.
The Skaar is the first of several summer golf events hosted by Bemidji State Athletics, the Bemidji State University Foundation and Beaver Pride. Next up is the 21st Annual Galen Nagle Memorial Golf Tournament, which is scheduled for Friday, July 13, at Bemidji Town and Country Club. Registration is $110 per person and includes dinner. The deadline to register is July 3.

Nestled in Northern Minnesota’s wooded region and located on the shore of Lake Bemidji, Bemidji State University sponsors 15 varsity athletic programs with NCAA Division I men’s and women’s hockey membership in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, while its 13 NCAA Division II programs hold membership in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
