About Bemidji State
The Bemidji State baseball team lost by identical 3-2 results in a nonconference doubleheader to Wayne State College Feb. 21. BSU left 10 runners on base in game two, which went nine innings, and 13 total in the two games and now own a 1-5 record. Nine-hole hitter senior Lewis Baumann is leading the team in batting with a .412 average at the plate. He is guiding the team with 11 total bases, seven hits and five runs. Junior Miles Campbell has BSU’s lone win on the bump, while sophomore Jack Hegarty has appeared in two games and has allowed zero runs on four hits with four Ks.
About Minnesota State
After starting the season by going 3-1, the 13-rated Mavericks were off last week. Junior outfielder Parker Sullivan tops the MSU hitting charts with a .500 mark (7-for-14) on the season, while sophomore infielder Connor McCallum is hitting .462 (6-for-13). Junior righthander Bryce Bellin stands 1-0 after scattering three hits with no earned runs in six innings of work in MSU’s 3-2 win over USF Sunday. Junior Jason Hoppe also picked up a win with five scoreless innings in the 14-0 victory over Winona State Saturday. Matt Magers is in his fifth season as head coach of the Mavericks and owns a 176-58 record.
Last Action vs MSU
Last season the Mavericks swept BSU in a four-game series in Mankato, Minn. The Beavers lost 4-2, 15-3, 8-0 and 6-5. Bemidji State is 5-14 against Minnesota State under head coach Tim Bellew. BSU is 5-6 in neutral site games against the Mavericks.
