BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University’s Lyndsey Peterson (OF, So., Cottonwood, Minn.) and Dylan Webb (INF, 6-0, 165, RS-Jr., R/R, Ahwatukee, Ariz.) have been named Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, after outstanding athletic performances during the week of March 31-April 6.
Peterson led Bemidji State softball team March 31-April 6, posting six hits, two home runs and eight runs batted in. Peterson hit .267 in and recorded a slugging percentage of .733 in six games played. Peterson currently leads the Beavers in most major offensive categories including batting average (.322), home runs (4) and runs batted in (17).
This week’s honor marks the second consecutive Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week selection for Peterson and the third of 2014 season for a member of the BSU softball team. In addition to Peterson’s award last week, Nicole Dupay (OF, Sr., Woodbury, Minn.) also earned the award March 26.
Webb went 7-for-15 (.467) with nine RBI and two runs scored to help guide the BSU baseball team to a 4-2 week April 2-7. He recorded a .733 slugging percentage, .529 on-base percentage and .947 fielding percentage. He posted a double and a home run, en route to 11 total bases. The junior lifted his first home run of the season in game two of a road series at U-Mary. It was a three-run bomb that provided the game-winning runs in an 8-7 BSU victory April 6. Webb recorded a hit in all four games played and posted four RBI in a victory at U-Mary April 7.
This week’s honor marks the first of Webb’s career and the fourth of the season for a member of the Beaver baseball team. He follows teammate Nate Heisick (LHP, RS-So., Plymouth, Minn.), who was selected for the honor last week, Zach Braun (C, Sr., Lakeville, Minn.), the March 12 recipient and Tyler Saeugling (RHP, Jr., Dubuque, Iowa), the March 26 honoree.
