BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Bemidji State baseball’s Scott Litchy has earned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) honors as Player of the Week for March 30, announced today by league officials.
The Avon, Minn. native, appeared in all four games against University of Sioux Falls last weekend as he recorded a .529 batting average going 9-for-17 at the plate, including two doubles, one triple and two home runs. His nine hits was tied for the most in the NSIC last week, while his 19 total bases and 10 RBI were second best.
Litchy marked back-to-back home runs against the Cougars in game two Saturday with a three-run bomb and followed with a grand slam. He recorded six runs scored with a season-high eight RBI coming in one game against the Cougars.
He posted a 1.118 slugging percentage and tabbed two putouts on the weekend as well. Litchy is batting .288 on the season with 20 games started and is tied seventh in the NISC in home runs with four.
The Beavers are set to host its 2015 home opener Tuesday, March 31 against Northern State University with the first pitch at 1 p.m. from BSU Baseball Field.
