SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Ronken Field) -- Junior pitcher Connor McNallan threw a complete game win to help Bemidji State University baseball split its series finale against Augustana University Sunday at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls, S.D. BSU moves to 4-10 overall and 1-3 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and AU goes to 8-10 overall and 3-1 in the NSIC after a 7-2 Beavers win and a 12-2 Vikings win in eight innings.

Game One

Freshman Noah Boser and senior Duane Miller recorded back-to-back two-out singles in the first inning to set up a two-run double to right field by senior Logan Riedel. The Vikings answered back with one run in the bottom of the second, but the Beavers were able to add two runs in the top of the fourth. Sophomore Gunner Olszewski added the first of his three RBI on the day with a single up the middle, driving in senior Matt Mastantuono. Senior Collin Eckman hit a ball to left field that ended as an error to allow Olszewski to score. After Augustana scored their second run in the bottom of the fourth, Bemidji State added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning. Augie walked a BSU runner in before Olszewski singled up the middle for two RBIs to extend the lead to 7-2.

Junior starting pitcher Connor McNallan (1-2) threw a complete game to earn the win. He finished with two strikeouts and allowed two earned runs and six hits. Vikings starting pitcher Ryan Hamilton (0-1) was credited with the loss after throwing 3.1 innings and allowing seven hits and four runs.

Game Two

The Beavers scored first again in game two as Riedel led off the second inning with a hit by pitch. With two outs, Olszewski recorded his third double of the season to drive in Riedel to go up, 1-0. Augustana tied the game in the bottom of the second with a solo home run to right field. Augustana took its first lead of either game, 4-1, in the bottom of the fourth with a two-run home run past the left field fence and an RBI single. An RBI single and RBI double extended AU’s lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fifth. Noah Boser recorded his first hit of the game, a double to right field, to set up an RBI for Miller to cut the deficit to 6-2. Augustana tacked on five runs in the bottom of the sixth and one in the eighth for the final runs of the game.
