BEMIDJI, Minn. -- With three weeks remaining in the regular season, the Bemidji State University baseball program is looking to up its ranking in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with home games against Minot State University and No. 19 Minnesota State University Mankato. BSU opens the week with a doubleheader against MiSU Wednesday, April 19 and closes with a four-game series against MSU Saturday, April 22 and Sunday April 23.

Bemidji State Overview

  • Bemidji State went 2-4 over its last week of action against University of Minnesota Crookston and at Wayne State College.
  • The Beavers currently rank 12th in the NSIC after falling to 9-13 in conference play.
  • BSU took its first win of the week on a walk-off home run by senior Collin Eckman in the 13th inning against UMC.
  • BSU hit .267 from the plate with a .330 on-base percentage and totaled an 5.33 ERA and fielded .947.


About Minot State

  • The Beavers are led by first-year head coach Steve Eul.
  • Minot State earned its first series sweep and secured their fourth series win, taking all four games against University of Sioux Falls.
  • MiSU ended a 10-game home stand and went 6-4 during the stretch, taking at least one game from each of the three teams they faced, including a win over then No. 21 ranked Minnesota State.
  • Utility player Michael Borst earned NSIC Player of the Week after going .429 from the plate with 15 RBI, two home runs, two triples, two stolen bases and a double while leading the conference in total RBI on the season.
  • MiSU is hitting .312 from the plate and have a 4.96 ERA with a .961 fielding percentage.


About No. 19 Minnesota State

  • The Mavericks are led by ninth-year head coach Matt Magers.
  • MSU remained in first place in the NSIC with a 4-2 week, sweeping a home doubleheader against Sioux Falls and splitting a four-game series against St. Cloud State University.
  • The Mavericks pitching staff recorded a 3.19 ERA on the week while the opposing pitching staffs garnered a 4.87 ERA.
  • Minnesota State leads the NSIC in home runs (40), slugging percentage (.476), ERA (2.51), shutouts, (6), hits allowed (233) and batting average (.223).
  • MSU is hitting .301 from the plate and have a 2.51 ERA with a .977 fielding percentage.
