Jamie Bisch enters his second season at Bemidji State as the defensive coordinator in 2019. He spent the two years prior to coming to Bemidji State as the defensive coordinator/linebackers Coach at Midland University in Nebraska.

In his first season with the Beavers, Bisch coached the Gang Green defense to a 7-4 record. The defense totalled 884 tackles (436 solo adn 448 assisted) with 73 TFL for 318 yards. The Beavers totalled 21 sacks and 21 interceptions against their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference competitors, along with causing 11 fumbles and recovering 7. The 2018 season saw many awards and nominations for the Beavers' defense, including: senior defensive back, Gunner Olszewski's record breaking four All-American selections, Defensive Player of the Year and multiple All-Super Region team nods. The Gang Green Defense also recorded three defensive player of the week awards (Gabe Ames, Mike Junker, and John Vogler). The 2018 team also received votes in the American Football Coaches Assocation top 25 poll.

At Midland, Bisch helped guide the Warriors to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2011. Also during his time at Midland, the team produced 15 All-GPAC selections and two NAIA Scholar-Athletes. In 2016, Bisch's defense finished among the top ten nationally in takeaways with 31, recorded 27.5 sacks (top 25 nationally) and was one of the top teams in the country in both third and fourth down defense.

Prior to coaching at Midland, Bisch spent four seasons as the defensive coordinator/defensive backs and linebackers coach at the New Mexico Military Institute that won the 2013 El Toro Bowl, the first bowl victory for NMMI since 1999, and helped lead the Colts to three consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 1969. Bisch began his coaching career as a graduate assistant followed by running backs coach at Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2010-2012.

Bisch graduated from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2008 with a degree in health and human performance studies and was a defensive back for the Falcons, being named All-WIAC in 2007 and 2008. He later graduated from Minnesota State in 2011 with a master’s in physical education in sport management.

Bisch is originally from Madison Lake, Minn., and currently lives in Bemidji with his wife, Tarrah (Sweet), and three-month-old son, Ezra.
