Sannes, Midboe named Honorable-Mention All-Region

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji State senior quarterback Nathan Sannes (Fertile, Minn.) and senior defensive end James Midboe (Climax, Minn.) have been named d2football.com Honorable Mention All-Northwest Region, that publication announced recently. It is the first All-Region honor for either player.


James Midboe named First-Team All-NSIC

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Bemidji State senior defensive end James Midboe (Climax, Minn.) has been named First-Team All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, headlining a school-record group of 11 All-NSIC honorees for the Beavers. In addition, four BSU players were named Second-Team All-NSIC and six gridders earned honorable-mention honors.


Wayne State rallies past Bemidji State, 38-28, in Metrodome Classic

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (HHH Metrodome) - It was a tale of two halves for the Bemidji State football program in its season finale at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Merchants Bank Metrodome Classic. The first half was all BSU, as the Beavers dominated behind an aerial onslaught led by wide reciever Anthony Schreiber (Berkeley, Ill.) and led 28-10 heading into the locker room. It was a polar opposite second half, however, as Wayne State (Neb.) dominated every phase of the game, scored 28 unanswered points and rallied for a 38-28 victory over the Beavers.


Jeremiah Johnson named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Bemidji State sophomore safety Jeremiah Johnson (Glidden, Iowa) has been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in BSU’s Oct. 29 victory over Minnesota State, Moorhead, the NSIC office announced yesterday.

(Chet Anderson Stadium) - Bemidji State retained the Battle Axe, the fourth-oldest traveling trophy in NCAA Division II football, for a school-record sixth consecutive season, using a 14-point fourth quarter to break open a tie game and post a 27-13 victory over the Minnesota State-Moorhead Dragons.

Bemidji State drops 47-13 decision at Winona State

WINONA, Minn. (Maxwell Field) - Winona State quarterback Drew Abner completed 19 of 29 passes for 390 yards and two touchdowns, as the Warriors rolled up 646 yards of total offense in a 47-13 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory over Bemidji State. Abner’s 390 passing yards were part of a 646-yard effort for the Warrior offense, the most yards ever surrendered by a BSU defense.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Griffin Stadium) - It was a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference football opener which neither Bemidji State nor Concordia-St. Paul will ever forget. Golden Bear quarterback James McNear picked up his fourth rushing touchdown of the day in the first overtime, and Bemidji State quarterback Nathan Sannes (Fertile, Minn.) was intercepted in the end zone on BSU’s first play of overtime as Concordia-St. Paul survived a wild 55-48 shootout.

The victory improved BSU to 3-0 for the season, marking just the 11th 3-0 start for the program in 80 years of competition.
