Signing Day press conference set for Feb. 1 at 3:30 p.m.
BEMIDJI, Minn. – February 1 officially marks the beginning of the 2012 season for the Bemidji State University football and women’s soccer programs as they announce their 2012 signing classes. A live press conference is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. in room 230 of the Physical Education Building on the campus of BSU. will have exclusive coverage of the event all day. A live, interactive blog will keep fans, parents and media up-to-date on signees as National Letters of Intent come through the Bemidji State fax machine, the compliance office and admissions process. The BSUBeavers Twitter account will also be providing updates as the day goes on. Biographies of the student-athletes will be posted on the blog as they sign and will be compiled into a press release for media attending the press conference.

The updates lead into the official press conference which will be streamed live on the website, with head women’s soccer coach Jim Stone and football head coach Jeff Tesch.

At the conclusion of the press conference the signing releases will be posted on A roster of the football signees will go live after the press conference containing each signees’ bio, highlight video (if available) and a comment from a member of the BSU coaching staff.

The Beaver football team finished the 2011 campaign with an 8-3 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the NSIC to finish in a three-way tie for fourth in the league standings. The eight-win season marked the eighth time in program history the team had reached eight wins in a season and the sixth time under Tesch. The Beaver offense finished the season averaging 26.8 points per game, while the ‘Gang Green’ defense was one of the best in the conference allowing just 16.0 points per contest to rank No. 7 in the nation at the end of the regular season.

Bemidji State completed the 2011 campaign with an overall record of 8-8-3, while it finished in a three-way tie for sixth in the final NSIC standings owning a 6-4-2 mark in league play. BSU made the NSIC postseason tournament for the seventh time under Stone, falling in the first round to NCAA Central Region participants, Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Beavers had 11 one-goal matches in 2011 (6-5) - which included four 1-0 losses - and went into an overtime period seven times and never lost (4-0-3).
