Spring ball for Bemidji State football begins Friday

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University football team is set to begin spring practice Friday, March 23. The Beavers will practice 14 times before its annual spring game April 19 at 7 p.m.

Unseasonably warm and dry weather in the Bemidji area has allowed BSU to begin practice earlier than normal. The Beavers will open spring practice March 23 and will continue through Thursday, April 19 when the team holds its annual spring game. The Green and White Spring Game at Chet Anderson Stadium will begin at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The Beavers will host a youth football clinic at The Chet prior to the spring game. Registration will run from 4-5 p.m. and the clinic will be conducted from 5-6 p.m.

The Beavers were ranked in the national poll on three different occasions in 2011 and finished the campaign with an 8-3 overall record and a 7-3 mark in the NSIC to finish in a three-way tie for fourth in the league standings. The eight-win season marked the eighth time in program history the team had reached eight wins in a season and the sixth time under Tesch. The Beaver offense finished the season averaging 26.8 points per game, while the ‘Gang Green’ defense was one of the best in the conference allowing just 16.0 points per contest to rank No. 7 in the nation at the end of the regular season.

Bemidji State University, located in Bemidji, Minn., is an NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
