Vikings down Beavers 24-0

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Kirkeby-Over Stadium) – The Bemidji State University football team fell 24-0 at Augustana College Saturday in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference contest in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Beavers move to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in NSIC play.

Despite only being out-gained 265-208 in total offense, the Beavers were unable to put points on the board against Augustana. BSU could only muster nine first downs and besides a 47-yard connection early in the first quarter, couldn't get anythig going on offense. The Beaver defense was without starting nose tackle Matthew Shaver (Sr., St. Cloud, Minn.) and starting outside linebacker and captain, Buckley Wright (Sr., Sioux City, Iowa).

Augustana held a 3-0 lead after the first quarter, then posted a 10-0 lead with an 18-yard blocked punt return early in the second quarter. The lead was 17-0 before halftime and went to 24-0 in the third quarter, which proved to be enough for the home team.

Senior quarterback Alex Hass (Milaca, Minn.) went 7-for-17 for 1-2 yards, while senior running back Avery Walker (Milwaukee, Wis.) posted 40 yards rushing.

Defensively, sophomore Connor Quinn (Geneva, Ill.) recorded a team-high eight tackles with one tackle for loss.
