Game-winning field goal earns Hoffer NSIC Special Teams Player of the Week

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- True freshman kicker Mason Hoffer made the most of his first career appearance Saturday in No. 22 Bemidji State University football’s 31-28 overtime win over Northern State University with the game-winning field goal to earn the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Minot, N.D., native accounted for seven of the Beavers’ 31 points on the day with four extra point conversions and the game-winning, 38-yard field goal against the Wolves in overtime. The victory-clinching field goal was Hoffer’s first career attempt as a Beaver. In addition to his field goal and extra point conversions, Hoffer recorded five kickoffs for an average of 49.6 yards per kickoff.

Bemidji State moved to 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in NSIC North Division play heading into Homecoming weekend against Minot State University. The two Beavers programs kick off at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at Chet Anderson Stadium.
