Krause joins exclusive list as All-America HM member

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Senior offensive guard Jake Krause became the third member of the Bemidji State University football program ever to be named to the All-America Team, which was released Friday. Krause finished his BSU career after starting his last 33 games on the Beaver offensive line before being named to the All-America Honorable Mention Team.

Krause, a native of Wadena, Minn., was named All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference First Team after starting all but one game in his career. He helped drive BSU’s 35.3 points per game, which ranked third in the NSIC this past season. The Beavers also ranked third in the league with 202.5 rushing yards per game and fourth with 396.5 total yards per game. Krause, a team captain, started all 11 games and finished his career on a 33-game start streak.

Bemidji State finished the 2017 season 8-3 overall and has compiled 27 wins in Krause’s four seasons with the program. With Krause serving on the offensive line the past four seasons, the Beavers have become one of the conference and nation’s top offenses. BSU set single-season program records in 2016 in scoring and total offense and continued to produce in Krause’s senior season.

Krause joins two former Beavers as the only BSU student-athletes to be named to the All-America Team. Along with Krause in 2017, tight end Brian Leonhardt in 2011 and running back Eddie Acosta in 2001 were also selected as members of the All-America Honorable Mention Team.

In addition to helping build BSU’s offensive attack, Krause helped Bemidji State reach the postseason in 2016 for just the second time in program history. The Beavers made history with a 36-23 win over Washburn University in the 2016 Mineral Water Bowl for the program’s first ever postseason victory.
