The Beavers also ranked third in the league with 202.5 rushing yards per game and fourth with 396.5 total yards per game. Krause, a team captain, started all 11 games and finished his career on a 33-game start streak. Krause became just the third Beaver Football member evet to be named to the All-America Team. Aanerud, a kicker/punter from Otsego, Minn., ranked fifth in the NSIC with 15 field goals, which broke his own record for the most in a single season for a Beaver while also earning a spot on the All-NSIC Second Team Special Teams. He also set the program’s all-time field goals mark while doubling his total heading into the 2017 season. Aanerud will enter his senior season with 30 career field goals and set a season-long field goal of 50 yards Sept. 30 at Minnesota Crookston.

Texas A&M-Commerce senior quarterback Luis Perez was named the Don Hansen Super Region Three Offensive Player of the Year, Winona State University senior safety Andrew Spencer earned Defensive Player of the Year, Minnesota State University senior punter Casey Bednarski received Special Teams Player of the Year, Black Hills State University freshman Brandon LaBrie was selected as Freshman of the Year, and Texas A&M-Commerce head coach Colby Carthel and Central Washington University head coach Ian Shoemaker were each tabbed Co-Coaches of the Year.

The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen’s National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988. The first-team and second-team All-Region selections, including Olszewski and Vogeler, advance to a national ballot from which the 2017 Don Hansen NCAA DII All-America team will be selected.
