AFCA names Olszewski to Division II Coaches’ All-America First Team

Bemidji State University football senior corner back Gunner Olszewski brought home his third postseason honor of 2018 as the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) released its Division II Coaches’ All-America Teams Wednesday. Olszewski was one of three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference student-athletes named to the AFCA All-America First Team.


Olszewski earns two D2CCA All-Super Region 4 honors

Senior corner back and return specialist Gunner Olszewski added to his collection of awards Monday as the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) released its 2018 All-Super Region 4 Team. Olszewski was selected D2CCA Super Region 4 Second Team as a corner back and return specialist.


Bemidji State lands 31 on Fall Academic All-NSIC Team

Bemidji State University landed 31 student-athletes on the 2018 Fall Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team, with 16 earning the NSIC's new All-Academic Team of Excellence distinction.

Seniors cap Bemidji State season with a bang in 69-7 win over Minot State

The seniors of the Bemidji State University football program finished their careers with a bang as the team ended the season on a 69-7 win over Minot State University at Chet Anderson Stadium. Senior running back Andrew Lackowski surpassed 1,000 rushing yards on the season as the team combined for 289 rushing yards in Saturday’s win.

Beavers, Dragons renew Battle Axe rivalry Saturday at Chet Anderson Stadium

Bemidji State University and Minnesota State University Moorhead renew the annual Battle for the Axe rivalry at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3 at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers and Dragons will play for the 85th time since 1929, which includes the second-longest traveling trophy in NCAA Division II.

Senior running back Andrew Lackowski rushed his way to another 100-plus yard game in 2018 to help the Bemidji State University football program to a 37-24 win over St. Cloud State University, Saturday, Oct. 27 at Husky Stadium in St. Cloud, Minn. Lackowski powered the Beavers offense with his fourth straight 120-plus yard rushing game while the “Gang Green” defense came up with four interceptions to snap BSU’s first losing streak under head coach Brent Bolte.


Former Beaver Football captains helping give back during Christmas season

During the season of giving, two former Bemidji State University football student-athletes and captains have made their impact felt while serving on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota-based non-profit Best Christmas Ever (BCE). Beaver Football receives votes in AFCA Top 25 Poll

The Bemidji State University football program received votes in the American Football Coaches Association Top 25 Poll released Monday. BSU (5-1, 3-1 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference North Division) completed a 25-21 comeback victory over University of Sioux Falls to earn its first votes in the AFCA Top 25 Poll since Sept. 11, 2017.

Bemidji State University football was tabbed fifth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll, which was released Thursday morning by the conference office. Senior defensive back Gunner Olszewski earned his second straight NSIC North Division Defensive Preseason Player of the Year honor.


Seven individuals, team to be inducted into Bemidji State Athletic Hall of Fame

Former Bemidji State student-athletes Denis Lemieux (men’s hockey 1968-72), Len Rothlisberger (men’s swimming 1968-72), Rich Schwartz (football 1981-85), Karen (Morrissey) Stellrecht (women’s basketball 1993-97) and Andrea (Block) Zenner (softball 1998-2001) will be inducted into the Alumni B Club Athletic Hall of Fame Feb. 16. They will be joined by Alumni Coaching Achievement Award recipient Wynn Gmitroski (1982) and the BSU Coaches Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Muriel Gilman. In addition, Bemidji State’s 1992 women’s cross-country ski team will be enshrined into its Team Hall of Fame.


Beaver Football quartet named to 2018 NFF Hampshire Honor Society

Four student-athletes from the Bemidji State University football program were included in an all-time high list as the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame released its 2018 NFF Hampshire Honor Society. Seniors Blake Holder, Jordan Johnson, Jake Krause and Evan Tompkins were named to the list that is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.


Famestad and Krause take home Bemidji State Athlete of the Year honors

Bemidji State University Soccer captain Miranda Famestad and Jake Krause, of the football team, were named 2017-18 Female and Male Athletes of the Year as a part of the Beaver Nation Celebration Thursday at the Beaux Arts Ballroom. In addition, Allyson Smith, of the soccer team, and Andrew Lackowski, of the football team, took home Female and Male Newcomer of the Year honors.

The defense came up victories for the second year in a row during the Bemidji State University football program’s annual Green and White Spring Game Sunday afternoon at Chet Anderson Stadium. Defensive backs John Vogeler and Jake West each recorded an interception to help lead the “Gang Green” defense over the offense.

The 2018 Bemidji State University football program announced the rescheduled Green and White spring game as well as its annual youth camp. The annual Green and White football spring game is now scheduled for 2:30-4 p.m. Sunday, April 15 while the youth camp is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21, both held at Chet Anderson Stadium in Bemidji, Minn.

Bisch introduced as Beaver Football defensive coordinator

Bemidji State University football head coach Brent Bolte announced today the hiring of Jamie Bisch as the Beavers’ defensive coordinator for the 2018 season. Bisch comes to BSU after serving at Midland University for two seasons in the same position.


Krause to take part in Gopher Pro Day March 28

Former Bemidji State University football offensive lineman Jake Krause will participate in the University of Minnesota’s Pro Day March 28 at the program’s new indoor practice facility at Athletes Village. The offensive guard will aim to continue his football career in front of NFL scouts.


Spring practices set to begin March 29 for Bemidji State football

The Bemidji State University football program will get its first look at the 2018 squad as spring practices are set to begin March 29 at Chet Anderson Stadium. The Beavers will host 15 practices with the annual Green and White spring game scheduled for Saturday, April 14 at 1 p.m.

Beaver Football adds two freshman to 2018 class

Bemidji State University football head coach Brent Bolte announced Monday that two high school seniors will join the 2018 National Signing Day class. Alec Ogden, a quarterback from Marshall, Wis., and Sage Booker, a running back from Minneapolis, put the program’s incoming freshmen total at 34.

The Bemidji State University football and soccer programs will announce the newest members of Beaver Territory Wednesday, Feb. 7 on National Signing Day while hosting press conferences beginning at 3:30 p.m. BSU football head coach Brent Bolte and soccer head coach Jim Stone will speak at the live press conference in room 231 of the Physical Education Building on the BSU Campus.
