Beaver Football to host six home games as 2018 schedule is released

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University head football coach Brent Bolte announced the 2018 schedule Wednesday, which includes six home contests and 11 total Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games. For the first time since 2011, the Beavers will not open the season against NSIC South teams.

Bemidji State opens the schedule at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30 at home at Chet Anderson Stadium against Northern State University on Community Appreciation Day. BSU continues its first games against NSIC North foes at 2 p.m. Sept. 8 with a trip to Bismarck, N.D., to face University of Mary. Bemidji State hosts University of Minnesota Crookston at 4 p.m. Sept. 15 for the annual Shrine Game before heading to University of Minnesota Duluth at 6 p.m. Sept. 22.

BSU opens its slate against NSIC South opponents at 1 p.m. Sept. 29 at Wayne State College. Bemidji State will play its Homecoming game at 2 p.m. Oct. 6 against University of Sioux Falls. The Beavers return to the road Oct. 13 at Upper Iowa University before finishing NSIC South games Oct. 20 at home against Minnesota State University, Mankato in the Lions Vision Awareness Game.

The final three games of the schedule will return to NSIC North matchups beginning with the final road game Oct. 27 at St. Cloud State University. BSU closes out its season with two home games Nov. 3 against Minnesota State University Moorhead in the Make-A-Wish game and Nov. 10 against Minot State University in the Military Appreciation Day/Senior Day.

Bemidji State finished the 2017 season 8-3 overall and 6-1 in NSIC North competition. The Beavers were ranked second in the NSIC with 35.3 points per game and fourth with 17.3 points allowed per game. The offense finished fourth in the league with 396.5 yards per game while the “Gang Green” defense ended fourth with 299.3 yards allowed per game. BSU returns six All-NSIC performers and bring on 41 newcomers for the 2018 season.
