BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Senior kicker Isaac Aanerud represents the Bemidji State University football program as one of 34 members of the 2018 Fred Mitchell Kick-Off Watch List, recognizing place-kickers for their excellence on the football field and for continued community service during their off-season. Aanerud enters his senior campaign as Beaver Football’s all-time leader in field goals.
Aanerud, a native of Otsego, Minn., was a 2017 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Second Team Special Teams and Don Hansen All-Super Region Three Third Team selection. In addition to his all-time record of 30 field goals at BSU, Aanerud also owns the single-season record with 15 field goals. He ranked third in field goal percentage among NSIC kickers and fifth in field goals in 2017. In addition to his place-kicking duties, Aanerud averaged 58.8 yards per kickoff with 49 touchbacks during his career.
Aanerud is one of 11 Division II and one of three NSIC place-kickers named to the 2018 Kick-Off Watch List. The recipient of the Fred Mitchell Award will be announced in mid-December based on performance on the football field and in the community. Details are provided at www.FredMitchellAward.com. The breakdown of the 34 place-kickers is as follows:
- Collegiate Division – 13 FCS, 11 Division II, 9 Division III, and 1 NAIA
- State – The place-kickers play at schools located in 22 different states (AL, CA (3), CT, GA, IL, IN, IA (3), MA (4), MN (3), MO (2), NY, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WA,WV, and WI) and two from abroad (Jena, Germany and Sao Paulõ, Brazil).
- Year – 14 Seniors, 16 Juniors and 4 Sophomores
The 2018 Fred Mitchell Place-Kicker Award is present at the annual National Football Foundation Chicago Metro Chapter Awards Ceremony. A college tuition scholarship can be presented to the college of the Award recipient. Scholarship funds are received from corporate and individual donations and nominal financial support provided by the Selection Committee.
