Jordan Abaroa is in his first season as a student assistant coach after spending a season playing for the Beavers. Abaroa joined the Beavers in 2012 as a transfer from Scottsdale Community College to help fill a hole as safety. He played in eight games, with one start, before suffering a concussion that ended his career early.

Before being sidelined, Abaroa totaled 14 tackes (three solo), recorded an interception, a pass break-up and forced one fumble. He recorded a season-high four tackles in his first start for the green and white, Aug. 31.

Prior to joining the Beavers, Abaroa played two years at Scottsdale Community College and led the Fighting Artichokes with eight pass breakups and one interception as a sophomore. He tallied 47 tackles, had five tackles for loss and one sack in 2011 for Scottsdale. Abaroa was named National Junior College Athletic Association Academic All-America during both years at junior college.

Abaroa is a 2006 graduate of Highland High School (Gilbert, Ariz.) and lettered in football and track and field for the Hawks. He played wide receiver and safety and recorded 34 tackles, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries as a senior.

Born Jan. 3, 1988 in Mesa, Ariz., Abaroa lives in Bemidji with his wife, Taylor, and son Thane. He is majoring in marketing communication at BSU.
