Taylor Summers enters his third season as a graduate assistant at Bemidji State, primarily working with the defensive line.

The defensive line produced three All-NSIC selections in 2013 in Summers' second season. Junior defensive lineman Dan Kiebler landed a spot on the All-NSIC Second Team, while fellow junior lineman J.J. Reinke got his named called for the first time, as he earned honorable mention recognition. Finally, senior nose tackle Matthew Shaver was honored as an All-NSIC Honorable Mention pick.

Summers worked with the defensive line in 2012 and helped guide Bryan Syrstad to All-NSIC Honorable Mention honors. The D-Line helped the Beavers finish second in the league and top 20 nationally in total, rushing and scoring defense, while also concluding the season second in the NSIC in tackles for loss and pass defense.

Summers came to BSU after serving  two seasons as assistant varsity coach at Eastlake High School in Sammamish, Wa. At Eastlake, he worked with the linebackers, wide receivers and was the junior varsity offensive coordinator. Summers helped guide the Wolves to a 19-5 record and two appearances in the state tournament, including a quarterfinal finish in 2011. He coached nine all-conference players. As an assistant he developed game plans, scouted opponents and studied film.

Prior to his appointment at Eastlake, he served as a defensive line coach at his alma mater Linfield College in 2009. Summers helped the Wildcats to a 12-1 finish, a NCAA Division III national semi-finalist finish and guided an All-American. He also helped develop weekly game plans.

Summers was a three-time all-conference defensive lineman at Linfield. He led the Wildcats to an overall record of 18-9 and the school’s 52, 53 and 54th straight winning seasons - an NCAA all-divisions record. As a senior captain he was named D3Football.com All-Region and conference co-defensive player of the year. He finished his career fifth all-time in sacks at Linfield.

Prior to attending Linfield, Summers redshirted at Eastern Washington University from 2004-05.

A 2008 graduate of Linfield College, Summers earned a bachelors degree in history. He is pursuing a masters degree in education at Bemidji State.

Summers, originally from Sammamish, Wash., was a letterwinner in football at Skyline High School.
