Prior to BSU: A three-sport athlete earning varsity letters in football, wrestling and track and field… His senior season of football he was voted team MVP and best offensive player… A two-time All-Conference recipient… 2014 all-conference best linebacker recipient… In three seasons, Schmitz recorded 277 tackles, including 165 unassisted stops… Charted 18.0 career tackles for a loss of 55 yards, including 7.0 for a loss of 21 yards in 2014.

Personal: Born Sept. 19, 1996…Son of Greg and Pam Schmitz… Plans to major in marketing and sales with a minor in business administration at BSU... Father, Greg and grandpa, both played collegiate football at St. John’s University, while his Uncle Dan played football at Valley City State University and brother Tony was a pole vaulter at Valley City State.
