2018 (Jr.): Played in three games for the Beavers.

2017 (So.): Played in eight games... Recorded 282 recieving yards on 14 catches... Averaged 20.1 yards per catch and 35.2 yards per game... Career high with five recieving touchdowns this season... Set a career high in recieving yards against MSU Moorhead (Nov. 11) with 75 yards and two touchdowns

2016 (R-Fr.): Played in 9 games... Totaled 3 receptions for 52 yards with a season high 33 yard reception and touchdown at St. Cloud State (Oct. 29)... Recorded 9 punt returns for 102 yards and a season long of 41 yards at U-Mary (Oct. 1)... Ended the season with 155 all-purpose yards.

 

2015 (Fr.): Sat out the season as a redshirt... Scout Team Player of the Year.

Prior to BSU: Earned letters in football and track for the Pirates…Earned Second-Team All-Fox River Classic Conference twice as a receiver and was an All-FRCC Honorable Mention for punt and kick returner once…He was also a finalist for the Al Toon Award his senior season…His team won the conference title his senior season and finished 12-1 which set a school record for most wins in a season…Brought in 66 receptions for 1,291 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in two years for the Pirates...Averaged 19.6 yards per catch in his career…He averaged 27.8 yards on kickoff and punt returns by returning 16 for 445 yards including a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown…Had a total of 2,291 all purpose yards in his career which was an average of 109.1 yards per game…Was named All-FRCC for the 4x100 and 4x200 relays in track...Finished sixth in the 4x100 relay at the state championship and seventh in the 4x200…He also made an appearance at the state championship in the 4x200 his sophomore year…His team won the conference championship his junior season…Holds the school’s record in both the 4x100 relay and the 4x200 relay.

 

Personal: Born June 8, 1996…Son of Jenny and Chad Van Ess…Was an honor roll student while at Bay Port High School…Is undecided on a major at BSU.
