MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. -- In helping the Beavers to two NSIC wins over the week and a top spot in the conference standings, senior guard Adam Daley (Des Moines, Iowa) was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, announced by league offices today. Daley’s efforts occurred despite being hampered by a stomach virus.

“ The really impressive thing was he was sick the entire weekend,” said head coach Jeff Guiot. “I am real happy because he has put more of a concentrated effort on his defense.

“Usually, a player gets this award because of his offense, but defensively, Daley has made the most strides of any player on this team. On the weekend, he shot the ball well, played within himself and played good defense.”

Daley poured in a career-high 28 points with five treys in the 87-83 win over Concordia-St. Paul, Saturday, the eighth straight victory over the Golden Bears. He also grabbed five rebounds as he went five-of-11 from down-town. In Saturday’s 92-73 win over Winona State, Daley chipped in 18 points with four more three-pointers, five rebounds and a personal-best five assists. The 46 combined points in a two-game stretch was the most for Daley in his BSU career.

On the week, he was 14-of-28 (.500) from the floor, including nine-of-18 (.500) from three-point range. He was nine-of-10 (.900) from the foul line, grabbed 10 caroms (5.0 rpg), totaled five assists, three steals and 46 points (23 ppg).

He extended his three-point streak to 31 straight games with at least one trey and has three or more three-pointers in his last four contests. The school’s record holder in season treys (73) set in 2002-03, stands tied for second on the team with 11.2 points per game this season and has hit on 50 percent of his two-pointers and long range bombs. With 34 trifectas this year, Daley sits just 19 away from the top-spot in the BSU career records; he has 107.

The award was Daley’s second of his career.

The league-leading Beavers play host to Northern State tomorrow (Tuesday) night for a 8:00 p.m. contest at the BSU Gymnasium. BSU has won three straight against the 2002-03 NSIC Regular Season Champion Wolves.
