BSU Men’s and Women’s Basketball Host First Round

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University students will be allowed free of charge to the 2004 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Quarterfinals, Wednesday, Mar. 3 at the BSU Gymnasium. Students can get in free with a valid student ID.

Both Beaver basketball teams will play host tomorrow night with the women battling Winona State and the men facing Minnesota State, Moorhead. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. for the women and 8:00 p.m. for the men. It marks the first time in the five-year history of the NSIC Tournament that both Beaver teams have hosted first round contests.

All other ticket sales are as follows: $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for seniors, 2.00 for students, with children under five admitted free. For ticket information, please contact the BSU Ticket Office at 218-755-3993.

After Wednesday’s action, the NSIC Semifinal and Championship are held in St. Paul, Mar. 6-7 at the Gangelhoff Center on the campus of Concordia-St. Paul. On Saturday, the women’s semifinals take place at 12 and 4 p.m. with the men at 2 and 6 p.m.. The early games pair the lowest remaining seeds against the highest remaining seeds. The late contests has the two middle seeds squaring off. Sunday’s championships are set for 2 and 4 p.m. with the women to conclude in the early session.

The winner of the NSIC Tournament automatically qualifies for the North Central Region NCAA Tournament, March 13-14, 16, held at the top seed in the region.
