Basketball Skills Camp for Girls and Boys Set for August 9-11

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State Head Men’s Basketball Coach Patrick Smith announced a girl’s and boy’s basketball skills camp to be held Aug. 9-11 at the BSU Gymnasium. The camp is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. each day for those entering grades 2-8 and a separate session at 5:00-9:00 p.m. for grades 9-12.

The emphasis of the three-day camp will involve a personal improvement basketball workout used by coach Smith. The workout will improve the areas of ball handling, shooting, one-on-one post and perimeter moves and methods to improve overall athletic ability.

Last season, the Beavers were crowned Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference champions after breezing through the league with a 14-2 mark. BSU appeared in the NCAA Regionals for the first time in school history.

Smith, who was appointed the 18th head coach on May 6, 2004, comes to BSU from Moberly Area Community College (Mo.) where he was head men’s basketball coach and athletic director for the past three seasons.
