Bemidji State basketball teams plan 2005-06 Beaver Bash

BEMIDJI, Minn. – With the start of the exhibition season just two weeks away, followers of Bemidji State University basketball will get their first chance to sneak a peek at the 2005-06 BSU men’s and women’s basketball teams Friday (Oct. 21) as the teams host the Beaver Bash. In addition to introductions to this season’s teams, fans will be treated to friendly scrimmages, three-point and slam dunk contests, free T-shirts, other prizes and a chance to win $10,000.

This year’s event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at the BSU Gymnasium on the campus of Bemidji State University.

The night will begin with a welcome by the BSU coaching staff and the introductions of the 2005-06 men’s and women’s basketball teams , scrimmages by each team and the three-point and slam dunk competitions. Fans and other BSU student-athletes and staff will then get their chance to shine in games pitting the BSU baseball team versus the BSU track and field team and faculty and staff versus the students will take place. Finally, the night will be capped off with one lucky attendee being randomly selected to take a shot for $10,000.

The Beaver Bash is free and open to all students, faculty, staff and members of the Bemidji, Minn. community.

The Bemidji State men break the seal on the 2005-06 season with an exhibition game at the University of Missouri Nov. 2 in Columbia, Mo. After additional exhibition games at Iowa State and Drake, the Beavers will return home to officially open the 2005-06 campaign with a non-conference battle versus former NSIC rival University of Minnesota Duluth.

The BSU women will get their first taste of competition Nov. 5 when they travel to NCAA Division I member North Dakota State University for a 6 p.m. exhibition and will open their season just 10 days later when they hit the road for a non-conference affair with Mayville State University.
