Bemidji State to host Spring Basketball Academy; Announces Summer Camp Dates

BEMDIJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University head men's basketball coach Patrick Smith has announced that the BSU men's basketball program will conduct a four-week basketball development academy for youth in Bemidji, Minn. and surrounding area. The clinic will begin Monday April 3, continue April 10 and 24 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. and will conclude Saturday, April 29 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the BSU Gymnasium.

The emphases of the clinic include: shooting form development, one-on-one post and perimeter instruction, ball-handling drills, and three-on-three and five-on-five team play. The academy will also provide young athletes with basketball fundamental and athletic workout programs for off-season development and strength training to improve overall athletic ability.

The academy is open to girls and boys in grades 2-12 with age division breakdowns.

Registration for the academy is $60 and includes personal instruction by the BSU men's basketball coaching staff and student-athletes as well as a Beaver basketball t-shirt.

Smith has also announced dates for BSU Summer Youth Basketball Camps and its High School Summer League.

The resident camp is set for June 12-16, 8:30a.m.-4:30 p.m. Cost for this camp is $250 for resident campers and $125 for day campers. Two additional day camps have been slated for June 26-30 and July 24-29 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Registration for these camps is $60 per camper.

The High School Summer Basketball League will take place in June and is open to high school girl's or boy's teams at a cost of $400 per squad. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of eight games and tournament play.
