BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Bemidji State University men’s basketball coaching staff has announced that the BSU men’s basketball program will facilitate three boy’s and three team basketball camps this summer.
The individual Shooting and Scoring Camps, taking place on June 8, July 13 and 15, is open to players entering grades 4-12 with the Advanced Skills and Bemidji Youth Development Camp taking place on August 3-5. The advanced skills camp is for players in grades 7-12 with the youth developmental camp for players in grades 1-6.
The emphases of the shooting and scoring camp will include: individual breakdown of the shot, footwork/shot preparation, getting open to score, post and perimeter moves, ball handling, free throws, and instruction from BSU coaches and players. The advanced boys’ camp will focus on fundamentals of the game, developing basketball mentality, shooting and offensive moves, defensive footwork and skills, team concepts, daily contests and 5-on-5 games with instruction from BSU coaches and players.
The youth developmental camp will focus on learning new skills and improving existing skills.
The shooting and scoring camps are single day camps that will take place on June 8, July 13 and July 15 with players entering grades 4-12 hitting the court from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
The youth developmental camp and advanced skills camp both run from August 3-5 with players entering grades 1-6 taking the court from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and players entering grades 7-12 going from 1-4 p.m.
The team Summer League camp will take place on June 7, 14, and 21 with two games per day beginning at 3 p.m. On June 27 BSU will facilitate a Competitive Team Clinic which will run from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. that is limited to the first eight registered schools. The clinic will offer competitive offensive and defensive sessions against other high school teams. For the third consecutive season BSU will host the Summer Shoot out on June 28 starting at 9 a.m. The Shoot out is a two game minimum single elimination tournament format.
