Beavers announce two summer boys basketball camps
BEMIDJI, Minn.  -- The Bemidji State men’s basketball coaching staff has announced the program will host two summer boys basketball camps in 2010. A shooting and scoring camp for grades 4-12 will be offered on two different dates, June 21 and July 19, while an advanced skills camp will run August 2-4 for grades 7-12.

The shooting and scoring camps is a one-day session focusing on individual skill work combined with team play, breakdown of a shot, getting open to score, how to set and use a screen, shooting off the dribble and free throws.

The advanced skills camp highlights instruction of the advanced fundamentals of the game, developing a basketball mentality, how to become a better offensive player, teaching man-man defensive principles and team concepts. The camp will also feature daily contests and 5-on-5 games.

Cost for the shooting and scoring camp is $25 and the advanced skills camp is $50. Campers who attend any one-day shooting and scoring camp will get a $10 discount off the registration fee for either the co-ed fundamentals camp or the advanced skills camp. The registration fees also include a T-shirt and instruction from Bemidji State coaches and players.

The one-day shooting and scoring camp will run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on both June 21 and July 19, while the three-day advanced skills camp will run from 1-4 p.m. All camps will be conducted in the BSU Gymnasium. Advance registration is strongly recommended, but walk-ups will be accepted.
