BEMIDJI, Minn. – The weekly radio show, “Sports in the Round,” which broadcasts on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at The Ground Round, will this week feature Bemidji State University men's basketball. BSU head men's basketball coach Matt Bowen will be on the show to discuss the team's final home weekend Feb. 18-19.
The men's basketball team owns an 8-14 overall and 5-13 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference record to sit 13th in the league standings. The Beavers snapped a seven-game losing skid Feb. 11 at University of Minnesota, Crookston with a 85-78 victory. BSU made a program and conference record 40 free throws in the contest with sophomore Lance Rongstad (G, Eleva, Wis.) making a program-best 18 of them. The Beavers then fell prey to Minnesota State University Moorhead's 13 3-pointers, losing 70-62 after holding a nine-point lead in the first five minutes of the second half. BSU plays host for the final time this season Feb. 18-19 against Southwest Minnesota State University and No. 14 Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Also appearing on the show are Collorado College head men's hockey coach Scott Owens and Ohio State women's hockey coach Jackie Barto.
Interviews from this week’s Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week, Kristi Buerkle (Women's Track and Field, Sr., Sprinter, Stacy, Minn.) and Tandy Juell (Men's Track and Field, So., Multi, Redwood Falls, Minn.) will also air.
