BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Bemidji State University men’s basketball senior guard Sharif Black went on a streak during the second half of the 2017-18 season to help earn a spot on the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Honorable Mention team, which the league released Thursday.

Black, a guard from Detroit, Mich., earned his first nod to the All-NSIC team after ranking ninth in scoring among the league during conference games. He ended his senior season with 370 points in NSIC games, which averages out to 16.8 points per game. Black led BSU in points, field goals and free throws, while also totaling 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

Black led the team in scoring on 13 occasions this season and topped 20 points seven times, all coming after the Christmas break. He ended his senior season shooting 45.3 percent from the field, 29.9 percent from beyond the arc and 73.7 percent from the free throw line.

Joining Black on the All-NSIC Honorable Mention team is St. Cloud State University forward Sean Smith, Winona State University center Tommy Gathje, Augustana University guard John Warren and Wayne State College forward Kendall Jacks.

Minot State University senior forward Tyler Rudolph was selected the NSIC Player of the Year, Minnesota Crookston junior forward Gable Smith was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, Upper Iowa University freshman guard Joe Smoldt earned NSIC Freshman of the Year, University of Sioux Falls junior gurad Trevon Evans took home NSIC Newcomer of the Year and Northern State University head coach Paul Sather was selected NSIC Coach of the Year.
