Boschee announces Beaver Men’s Hoops inks Yetka for 2017-18 season

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- Bemidji State University men’s basketball Head Coach Mike Boschee announced the signing of guard/forward Drew Yetka from Oak Creek High School in Oak Creek, Wis., to join the program, beginning with the 2017-18 season.

Yetka’s acceptance is contingent upon admission to BSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Drew Yetka, a 6-foot-6-inch guard/forward from Oak Creek, Wis., is a three-time letter winner in basketball and two-time letter winner in football at Oak Creek High School. He was chosen as an Associated Press and Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-State Honorable Mention team member. Yetka was also named All-Southeast Conference First Team and Wisconsin Academic All-State. He averaged 19.9 points per game while shooting 54.9 percent from the field, 88.6 percent from the free throw line and 52.5 percent from beyond the arc during his senior season.

Yetka was an honor roll member all four years at OCHS and a member of the National Honor Society. The son of Dane and Cammie Yetka, he is a proposed major in pre-med biology.

“We are very excited to add Drew to the program,” Boschee said. “He will fit in tremendously with what we are trying to do. He is a 6-6 shooter/scorer that can play multiple positions. He has worked hard on his game and improved a great deal in the last year. His work ethic shows up in the classroom as well with numerous academic awards.”
