Bemidji State men's basketball adds Creighton to 2017-18 schedule

BEMIDJI, Minn. -- The Bemidji State University men’s basketball program announced an exhibition meeting against Creighton University scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 13. The Beavers and Bluejays meet for the first time ever with a 7 p.m. tip-off in Omaha, Neb.

Creighton will be the second consecutive season BSU will face a Division I opponent in an exhibition. The late addition to the Beaver Men’s Basketball schedule will be played on the Tuesday prior to the final weekend of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schedule at University of Mary Feb. 16 and at Minot State University Feb. 17. The game will be the first exhibition played during the NSIC schedule in program history.

Head Coach Mike Boschee played under Creighton Head Coach Greg McDermott at University of North Dakota when McDermott was an assistant coach for the Fighting Hawks during the 1989-90 season.

The game will be televised on FS2 and will also be available on FOX Sports Go.

Bemidji State begins the 2017-18 schedule with the NSIC/MIAA Classic against Lindenwood University (Nov. 10) and University of Central Missouri (Nov. 11) at Wisconsin Dells, Wis. BSU will open play at BSU Gymnasium Nov. 17 against Valley City State University, going up against former Beavers assistant coach Ryan Montgomery who is currently the head coach of the Vikings.
