Beavers land 26 on 2019-20 Winter NSIC All-Academic Team

BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Twenty-six Bemidji State University student-athletes earned a spot on the 2019-20 Winter Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference All-Academic Team, with 19 also warranting the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence recognition.

In total, 689 student-athletes from the 16-team NSIC were recognized for success in the classroom. Within the NSIC All-Academic Team selections was 400 who were named to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

Bemidji State had three programs qualify for selection to the 2019-20 Winter NSIC All-Academic Team, led by the track & field program with 12 selections to the team, including 10 selections to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence. Women’s basketball followed with eight total selections and six to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence while men’s basketball garnered six selections with three to the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence.

Sports considered for the Winter Academic All-NSIC Team are: men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, women’s swimming & diving and wrestling.

To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a grade-point average of 3.20 or better. To be eligible for the NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, a student-athlete must have a 3.60 cumulative GPA or higher. For both awards, the student-athlete must be a member of the varsity traveling team, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at her/his institution (true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen and ineligible athletic transfers are not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution.
