Kevin Williamson enters his second season as the graduate assistant coach on the Bemidji State men’s basketball staff.

He came to BSU after spending the 2009-10 season as the assistant coach at Glendale Community College in Phoenix, Ariz.  While at Glendale, he coached current Beavers Ryan Kinnell and James Ellisor, who earned a spot on the 2010-11 Second-Team All-NSIC team.

Before Glendale, Williamson taught and coached at Cathedral Catholic High School (Calif.) for the 2008-09 academic year. He served as a full-time health and physical education teacher and head coached the varsity basketball team and the co-ed badminton squad. The basketball team went 17-12 during his one season and upset the then-No. 1 team in San Diego, en route to a section championship and an appearance in the California state tournament for DIII.

He served as the head basketball coach at Kofa High School in Yuma, Ariz during the 2007-08 season. While at Kofa, the team finished 22-11, a school record for wins, adding a GILA region championship and state 5A-II Final Four appearance. The showing in the final four was the first time any Public Yuma high school had advanced to the final four. He also coached Kinnell at Kofa.

For the 2004-05 season, Williamson was a part of the Arizona State University men’s basketball program under then head coach Rob Evans that went 18-12 and made the NIT postseason tournament.

He was a two-sport athlete at University of Great Falls (Mont.) from 2005-07, playing both basketball and golf. Williamson helped the UGF basketball team to its best record since re-opening the sports program in 2000. He was a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Academic All-America selection in 2007 and was a three-time Frontier Conference All-Academic Team member for both sports.

He graduated from Sedona Red Rock High School in 2003. In high school he was a four-year letterwinner in both basketball and golf. In basketball was a two-time all-conference performer, while helping the golf team to back-two-back state titles.

A 2007 graduate of University of Great Falls in secondary education K-12, Williamson is pursuing a sport studies degree at Bemidji State.
