2013-14 (Freshman): Totaled 79 minutes (6.1 mpg) in 13 games… Recorded 18 points (1.4 ppg) and brought down 23 rebounds (1.8 rpg), which included 11 boards on the offensive end… Added three steals, two blocks and an assist… Posted a season-high four points and added two rebounds and two steals in 10 minutes in his collegiate debut against Mayville State (Nov. 13)… Pulled down a season-high five rebounds (three on the offensive glass) in a season-high 13 minutes versus St. Scholastica (Nov. 23)… In the first four games Ellenson played, he averaged 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 points in 9.5 minutes per game.
Rice Lake High School: Helped guide Rice Lake High School to back-to-back conference titles (undefeated each season) and a 2012 Division 2 Regional Championship… Named All-Big Rivers Honorable Mention as a senior after posting 9.3 points (tied for second on the team) and four rebounds per game to lift the Warriors to a 20-5 overall record… Participated in the Minnesota vs. Wisconsin high school “Border Battle” all-star game, which pits the best players from Northeastern Minnesota against the best from North Central Wisconsin… Totaled 7.9 points per game as a junior… The two-sport athlete also competes in track and has earned seven varsity letters (four in track and three in basketball)… Named captain to both basketball and track squads… Was a sectional finalist in track.
Personal: Born May 8, 1995… Son of John and Holly Ellenson… Plans to major in pre-med/biology at BSU… Father, John, played collegiate basketball at Marquette and University of Wisconsin and went on to play professionally in France… Mother, Holly, played basketball at University of Wisconsin Eau Claire… Both John and Holly have coaching experience at the college, high school and youth level… Brother, Wally, was on both the men’s basketball and men’s track and field rosters at University of Minnesota before transferring to Marquette… Grandfather, Wally Akervik, played hockey at University of Minnesota Duluth and coached for 22 years at UW-Eau Claire (10 years) and University of Wisconsin Superior (12 years), which included two national championships… Uncle, Andy Akervik, played college hockey at UW and was drafted by the Quebec Nordiques in 1985.
