Bemidji State golfers from past and present to compete in MGA Amateur

When the 108th Minnesota Golf Association (MGA) Amateur Championship gets underway today at White Bear Yacht Club, the Bemidji State University’s men’s golf team will be represented. The starting field of 156 players includes three players with ties to the BSU golf program. Current Beaver Chris Curb (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.) and 2002 graduate and current volunteer assistant coach Eric Carlson, are participating out of the Bemidji Town and Country Club, while Tom Jenkins, a 1998 graduate, is participating out of Wild Marsh Golf Club in Buffalo, Minn.


Johnson lands 2010-11 NSIC men’s golf honors

Bemidji State University junior Justin Johnson (Roseau, Minn.) has been named 2010-11 All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Honorable Mention. The announcement came today as league officials doled out end-of-the-season awards.


Beavers finish 12th at RMAC Championship

The Bemidji State University men’s golf team put the wraps on the 2010-11 regular season Monday competing the in the final round of the 2011 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championship at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz.


Foss leads Bemidji State in day one of RMAC Championship

With the 2011 postseason on the line, Bemidji State University men’s golf team captain Jim Foss (Roseau, Minn.) turned in back-to-back rounds of 73 (E) on first day of the 2011 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) in Litchfield Park, Ariz. to lead the Beavers and sit tied for 31st place among the red-hot field at 146 (E).


Bemidji State men take seventh at 2010-11 NSIC Championship

The Bemidji State men’s golf team carded a 21-over-par 305 Sunday at the par-71, 6,539-yard Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn. to claim seventh place 2010-11 NSIC Championship. The team, which was led by a 14th-place performance by sophomore Chris Curb (Bemidji, Minn.), completed the 90-hole event with a team total of 1,556 (+136).


BSU men jump to seventh heading into final round of NSIC Championship

On the strength of a 16-over-par 300 Saturday, the Bemidji State University men’s golf team continued its ascension up the leader board at the 2010-11 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship. The team sits seventh after four rounds. Sophomore Chris Curb (Bemidji, Minn.) led the Beavers with a 72 (+1) and owns 12th after 72 holes of the annual event.


Bemidji State men move to ninth in round three of NSIC Championship

The Bemidji State University men’s golf team opened the spring portion of the 2010-11 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship with a 308 (+20) to move into ninth place overall Friday at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn. Sophomore Chris Curb (Bemidji, Minn.) led the Beavers carding a four-over-par 75.


NSIC names Bemidji State’s Casey Hill Golfer of the Week

Bemidji State University’s Casey Hill (Jr., Virginia, Minn.) has been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Male Golfer of the Week, today in a release from the league, after leading the Beavers to a Cedar Valley Spring Invitational championship April 4-5.


Johnson and Nelson garner Beaver Pride Athlete of the Week honors

Bemidji State University’s Kara Johnson (Sr., Anoka, Minn.) and Garrett Nelson (Jr., Baudette, Minn.) have been named Beaver Pride Athletes of the Week after recording outstanding athletic performances between March 28-April 3.


Beavers claim Cedar Valley Spring Invitational honors

On the strength of a one-two finish by brothers Tyler and Casey Hill, the Bemidji State University men's golf team earned the 2011 Cedar Valley Spring Invitational at Sunnyside Country Club in Waterloo, Iowa Today. C. Hill fired a two-over-par 74 Tuesday to garner medallist honors.

Haugstad leads Bemidji State rally at Wayne State Spring Invite

Led by a one-over-par 73 by Matt Haugstad (Jr., East Grand Forks, Minn.) Saturday the Bemidji State University men’s golf team trimmed 18 strokes from its first round total and moved into second place in the Wayne State Spring Invitational . The event took place at the 6,407-yard, par-72 Wayne Country Club in Wayne, Neb.


Nelson's 76 leads BSU in day one of WSC Spring Invite

The Bemidji State University men's golf team opened the 2011 spring campaign Friday in Wayne, Neb. as the team participated in the first round of the Wayne State Spring Invitational. Garrett Nelson (Jr., Baudette, Minn.) paced BSU with a four-over-par 76.

Johnson wins Twin Cities Classic

Bemidji State University junior Justin Johnson (Roseau, Minn.) fired a one-under-par 71 at the par-72, 7,095-yard Wayzata Country Club Monday to wrap up play at the 2010 Twin Cities Classic and lay claim to individual medallist honors with a 54-hole total of 68-75-71--214 (-2). The junior’s stellar play helped the Beavers to finish fifth in the 18-team event.

Junior Justin Johnson (Roseau, Minn.) fired a four-under-par 68 Saturday to pace the Bemidji State University men’s golf team on the first day of the 2010 Twin Cities Classic. The Beavers finished the first round of the 54-hole event tied for fourth place with 297 (+9).

The Bemidji State University men’s golf team carded a 314 (+26) Monday to finish the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference crossover in 19th place with a 308-314-315--937 (+73). The Bemidji State University men’s golf team is in Gothenburg, Neb. this week to participate in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference/Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference crossover. One day after carding a 299 (+11) to sit just five strokes out of the lead in second place, the Bemidji State University men’s golf team turned in a 314 and slid to sixth place on the final day of the 2010 SCSU Husky Classic. Sophomore Chris Curb (Bemidji, Minn.) carded an even-par 72 Sunday to lead the Bemidji State University men’s golf team in the first round of the 2010 SCSU Husky Classic at the 6,676-yard, par-72 St. Cloud Country Club in St. Cloud, Minn. The Beavers' 299 (+11) leaves them five stokes out of the lead heading into the final day of the event.


Bemidji State jump to fourth in second day of NSIC Fall Preview

Don Niskanen steps away from golf coaching duties at Bemidji State

When Don Niskanen turned in the Bemidji State University score card at the 2010 NCAA Division II Men’s Golf West/Central Super Regional Wednesday, May 5, it would stand as his last official duty as BSU’s head men’s golf coach. Niskanen recently made the decision to retire from his position at BSU after holding the post for the last 17 seasons.


Dale named to Spring Academic All-NSIC Team

Bemidji State University had 26 student-athletes selected to the 2010 Spring Academic All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Team, announced by the league office today.


BSU’s Dale lands spot on 2010 Academic All-District V Team

Josh Dale (Cross Lake, Minn.), a senior member of the Bemidji State University men’s golf team, has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) College Division Academic All-District V Second Team. The award personifies what it means to be a student-athlete--competing at a high level not only on the course, but also in the classroom.
