BEMIDJI, Minn. – Led by freshman Ian Mackenzie-Olson, the Bemidji State Men’s Golf team took home the top spot at the BSU Invite hosted by the Beavers at the Bemidji Town and Country Club in Bemidji, Minn.

The Beavers carded a total score of 580 (+4) to finish seven strokes in front of second place, University of Sioux Falls and 11 strokes in front of third place, University of Manitoba.
Mackenzie-Olson took home top individual honors after firing off for a five-under par 139 over the two-round tournament finishing two strokes in front of second place, Brenden Bassing from Sioux Falls. Sophomore Matthew Gregg followed by carding a two-under par 142 (71, 71) to tie for fourth individually while Tanner Sperling (+5, 149), Samuel Otto (+6, 150) and Brandon Olson (+20, 164) round out the top five scoring for BSU.
Also competing individually were Beavers Brandon Nelson, who tied for ninth with a one-over 145, followed by Cody Cook (+3, 147), Brennan Hockman (+8, 152), Aaron Schnathorst (+11, 155), Joe Vatnsdal (+12, 156), Cole Johnson (+13, 157), Isaac Cihak (+19, 163) and Ben Skaar (+23, 167).
The Beavers will be back in action September 18-19 by competing at the Northeastern Oklahoma Invitational at the Muskogee Country Club in Tahlequah, Okla.
