BOLIVAR, Mo. – Led by sophomore Ian Mackenzie Olson who tied for sixth individually, the Bemidji State men’s golf team placed 14th out of 16 teams at the Southwest Baptist Invitational held at the Silo Ridge Country Club in Bolivar, Mo. Mackenzie-Olson paced the Beavers who totaled a team score of 939 (306-317-316) and tied for sixth individually after carding a score of 222 (71-75-76) at the three-round, two day tournament.

University of Central Oklahoma took home the team title with a team score of 892 (305-295-292) followed by Central Missouri University at 896 (291-301-304). The Beavers finished third of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference teams competing at the tournament behind Concordia University-St. Paul (306-304-296=906) and Minnesota State University, Mankato (309-305-305=919).
Behind Mackenzie-Olson, Tanner Sperling carded a 236 (74-79-83) to tie for 56tht individually while Chris Swenson followed by shooting 238 (79-79-80) and tied for 63rd individually. Brennan Hockman followed with a 245 (82-84-79) while Ben Corbid rounded out the Beavers’ top five by shooting 249 (83-85-81).
Brandon Nelson competed as an individual and tied for 48th individually by shooting 235 (82-72-81) highlighted by an even-par 72 in the second round.
The Beavers completed the regular season with the tournament and now begin NSIC Championship play. The Beavers remain in Missouri and will compete at the three-day, three round NSIC Championships April 18-20, held at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Kansas City, Mo. Bemidji State competed at the golf course just two weeks before and shot 607 (307-300) in two rounds as a team.
