BEMIDJI, Minn. – Bemidji State University sophomore men’s golfer Ian Mackenzie-Olson has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week after leading the Beavers and tied for sixth individually at the Southwest Baptist Invitational. Mackenzie-Olson carded a score of 222 (71-75-76), 6-over par, and his opening round 71 was tied for the lowest round by an NSIC golfer at the event.
This is the sophomores second weekly nod from the NSIC this season, third overall, and he was the NSIC Newcomer of the Year and All-NSIC First Team selection in 2017-18. The Wayzata, Minn., native paces the Beavers this season with a 75.1 scoring average in 16 rounds.
Mackenzie-Olson and the rest of the Beaver squad remains in Missouri this week and begin the NSIC Men’s Golf Championship Thursday, April 18 to Saturday, April 20. The Beavers will compete at the 54-hole championship held at the Shoal Creek Golf Course in Kansas City, Mo., with a 9 a.m. tee times Thursday and Friday and a 9 a.m. shotgun start Saturday.
