BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bemidji State University men’s golf team begins its fall season with back-to-back tournaments beginning this weekend. First the Beavers will travel to Lake City, Minn., to compete in the J.R. Watkins Invitational hosted by Winona State University at The Jewel Golf Club, September 6-7. The Beavers will then return home to host the 69th annual Bemidji State Invitational at the Bemidji Town and Country Club, September 9-10.
The Beavers begin the fall season with three rounds over two days at the J.R. Watkins Invite followed by three rounds over September 9-10 at the BSU Invite.
Bemidji State returns nine letterwinners from a 2018-19 team that saw the Beavers place third at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Spring Championship. Senior Chris Swenson returns as the leading scoring for the Beavers and is BSU’s Golfer to Watch after posting a 76.0 scoring average in 22 rounds last season. Matthew Gregg joins Swenson as the lone senior on the squad and posted a 78.5 scoring in 15 rounds last season. The Beavers add four freshmen to the team in Alex Iverson, Jake Paulson, Seth Schricker and Gus Vatnsdal.
